I have decided while I am at it I will replace the transom(coosa) along with the stringers and floor. I do not want to remove the cap and I can get a the transom from the inside, It does not go up into the cap and I think I can router most of it out from the inside and finish off with the grinder. My question is how will I be able to make sure the hull shape stays the same. Should I screw some ply to the outside, or some other method?? The stringers and floor are out.

Hi Mtnrat,
Unless your boat's hull is very flimsy or lightly built, it should hold its shape quite well. I removed all the interals from my 18-foot Starcraft and it didn't seem to spread or warp at all. The only precaution I took was to pull the sides together a bit when I tabbed the new floor in so that it didn't create a stress point when i put the deck back on later...
That said, don't set anything heavy in the boat or stand around in the boat while your epoxy is curing as the weight will distort the hull and if the epoxy cures while the weight is present, it'll take that shape...

Chinewalker, before I took the floor out I measured the distance from side to side in a few places and will brace the cap to those dimensions when I put in the floor, so I should be good there.
