Hi,

Getting ready to take our outboard motor to the boat this week and noticed an oil leak coming from directly below the mounting bracket in a space created for the shift rod. Motor was winterized according to the manual and I have drained the oil to check for leaks although I have not started checking yet because I wanted to hear thoughts on this forum. The oil is the new, clear amber oil I used for winterizing. The oil is coming from directly above the white paper towel in the attached photo. Thanks for your help.

Welcome aboard.

Did any oil spill inside when changing the oil and filter for winterizing? Some motors are messy during oil/filter changes. Might have been making drops all winter and not noticed til now.

If any oil was spilled on top pan will make its way downward by gravity and exit through the shift rod area...

Happy Boating
