OOPS I fried something....cd box or coil

Im still not sure exactly if my engine is a b or c but i think its a 1987 force 50 hp......I was in a hurry and not thinking and trying to get a spark i touched a hot wire to the smallest screw on the coil and cranked and there was a big puff of smoke...........then i read online and found to disconnect the white wire from the ignition.... I did this and got spark from the other coil that i didnt try to jump power to?? My question is.......did i fry the coil or the cd box? if i fried the coil can i buy the coil and replace it or do i have to buy the coil and cd box together?

sir i did about the same exact thing to mine im not sure yet either but i posted to ask but i do know that you can buy coil and cd box seperate because i bought a used cd box. aka (brain box). but you can go get an automotive coil from part store and it should work
