Opinion needed about temperature switch

Thanks to the wonderful information on this board, I have determined that the constant buzz from my warning horn is due to a sensor problem. My question is what is the risk associated with running the motor with the sensor disabled? The sensor for the other head will still be in service and the tell tale will let me know if water is still flowing. What would the likleyhood be of one head overheating while the other doesn't?

Just curious.

if one thermo is stuck...quite likely.
You could try swapping sensors around and see if the buzz follows the sensor.

Without functioning temperature switches, you will have no warning at all if the temperature reaches boiling point.

The tell-tale lets you know if the water pump is functioning but does not tell you if the water is flowing through the engine.

You could use temperature gauges to monitor temperature.

If it is a 90HP crossflow, you have to take the water cover off the cylinder head and pry out the old sensor. Difficulty depends on the condition of the bolts on the watercover. You should reseal a new switch with 3M 847 or similar when replacing. The switch needs a solid ground.

Those switches rarely fail unless overheated or corroded from water intrusion, so test yours before buying a new one.
