Re: Opinion on Bayliners

I remember their ads from the 1980's - clearly they were trolling for entry level sales. Their "packages" included technologically outdated motors- no oil injection when everyone else had it, and the HP of the motors in their packages were very underpowered, IMHO. Never owned one so cant comment on quality, but their ad didn't exactly put any type of quality in my mind.

For as bad as they seem to be, I do see a lot of them out there. Some are in the water being enjoyed, some are on land rotting away. I will say, I see the same amount of Sea Rays doing just the same things... Possibly even more Sea Rays rotting away on land than BLs.

You don't say what it had for an engine so I'll say, take it for a test on the water. My biggest complaint with Bayliners of that era is they were badly underpowered for most people.

i had mentioned in my post hat its a penta aq125...thats the only number i saw on the motor itself. It is a 4 cyl, cruises at 25 mph and wot 40 mph (trimming with trim tabs). I do thank all for their opinions. This is my first bigger boat and i will be taking it on the water tomorrow night so thanks to all, i appreciate it

That's a pretty small engine for that size boat. The Volvo Penta drive in that boat is awesome. The engine can be costly to repair though.

I have a 85' 2450. I love the boat. She is solid and runs well. I always get compliments at the lake. "THAT is a bayliner?" is what I here most.

As everyone else said, condition is everything after a boat is a few years old.
