Thanks to Santa I got my fuel tank for my tri-hull today. The problem I have is that it is rather large. I am working on a 16 foot tri-hull with a 90 hp outboard.
My thinking when selecting the tank was to get the largest capacity for the size that will fit where it is mounted. I measured the area and purchased a 19 gallon permanent tank. The original was a 12 gallon. The tank will fit, but it looks huge. Do you think I have over done it here? I did not consider weight when I selected the tank. It looks huge! Maybe I should go smaller, I am thinking this is way overkill. Your thoughts?
BTW- it is mounted aft under the splashtray.

If it fit's you should be fine..... the additional fuel weight equals about that of a second battery....... however, the fuel weight will constantly be reducing.

Nothing says you HAVE to keep 19 gallons in there ;)

In the world of aviation (my world) they say the only time you can have too much fuel, is when you're burning! If you can make it fit, I bet you will be happy on those long days out and about, IMHO.

That's only a bit more that 3 six-gallon tanks. Hardly an issue; but if you find that it slows you down or affects performance in some other way...then just don't fill it up.

It will come in handy on longer outings; and the only down-side that I can think of would be that if you don't use your boat very much...it will take a longer time to re-fresh your fuel.

Sometimes I wish I had an integral tank like that...it's a nuisance and an eye-sore to always be stowing 6 gallon tanks somewhere.

19 gallons with a 90 hp is a nice match. I was able to find a 17 gallon that fit in place of the OE 9 gallon, but I wish it was more. With the 19 you will be able to take long trips, or pull a tube all day long with a boat load of friends.

Like was said earlier, you don't have to fill it up all the time, especially if you find that the weight adversely affects performance. The difference is about 56 lbs more gas in the 19 gallon over the 12 gallons. Not a lot, but you may notice it.
