Re: Opinions on hustler propellors....

Added one to my '87 Merc 115HP on a 18' Starcraft aluminum.

Some of the 'usual' reasons (WOT too low, old one a little dinged-up), but have been happy with the Hustler prop. It's one of those with a separate hub, so I guess I could purchase another prop for less money, but at $80 for the whole setup, it was a good deal. It's also ventilated - can't say I noticed much difference in the hole-shot. The prop has a nice finish (silver) that hasn't worn-off in the 10-12 hours I've used-it.

All in all, it's well made and inexpensive.

mine works the same, perhaps better, than the original. Same size and pitch, on a 70hp Merc. About 50 hours of use.

Re: Opinions on hustler propellors....

If your talking about the Turningpoint Hustler prop, I have one on my 70hp Johnson I am quite pleased with. It has many of the same features of a SS prop including cupping which keeps it well buried even in tight turns with the motor tilted up substantionaly. The finish on the prop is a wonder as mine has yet to show any wear even after many many hours at full speed on the Willamette river. I also like that I can replace or change the prop for about half the cost of repairing a traditional one ($45 at BoatersWorld). One caution though, Turningpoint has changed its hub design for 2005 to a smaller size similiar to those seen on other manufactures props. This was done apparrently to improve exhaust flow. Older Hustler prop housings will not fit on the redesigned hubs.

I have the Hustler prop too. It does a great job. No complaints. And after one season in salt water, it came off without a fight. And hard to beat the price of replacement prop housings.

Willamettejeff,

Thanks for the 'heads up' on the hub change. I guess I'll have to check to see what hub future housing purchases fit.

Good prop if you want a "standard" replacement for a "standard" application.
