Hi folks

Need to paint my hull on houseboat. It is fiberglass, 1971 chriscraft 36'. I am picking about the color. So my choices of manufactures are slim. international Orange'!!!

The one I am thinking about is Duralux any info on there quality would be appreciated. Te cost is relatively low compared to others

In salt water and is dry-docked in winter.

Thanks
Jim

Ayuh,... Basisally, I use 1 of 2 paints for boats,...

If ya want a Million Dollar lookin' paint job,...
I shoot 'em with Martin Seynor Prizim,...
It's a 2-pt. urthane fleet paint...
It can be mixed to Any color of the rainbow, 'n a few more....

If I'm wantin' a Thousand Dollar lookin' paint job,...
I drop back to Rustoleum industrial enamel....
It comes in most standard colors, I believe including International Orange...

Another to consider is Supermarine- It's available in whatever color you want... I'd consider it to be somewhere between Bondos two options.... Easier to apply and easier on the budget than the prism, but better longevity than the Rust-O Leum. Supermarine claims to be submersible- I've experimented with it and have been happy with the results so far!

What kind of life span to you get with the rustoleum? Have you tried their topside paint? The super marine paint is $170 a gal and the primer is $100. I'm looking into paint too

I used Interlux Brightside Top Coat paint. It worked well for my fiberglass application.....

I decided to try the Duralux on the hull. Boat will come out every year so will see how it handles it.

Well I am about as far from a paint expert as there can be, and all I know is what I read here on iBoats and from Googling but having said that, I thought TOPSIDE paint used for Hull applications was ONLY IF the boat was NOT left in the water for more than a couple of days. Am I WRONG about this???

Had mine painted with AwlGrip. Stays in the brackish water 7 months of the year and salt the other 5. Looks beautiful.
