Hi

My 115 Optimax sounds the alarm when it has been running at iddle speed for 2-3 minuts. The alarm is for to low temperature in the cooling water. Anything that can be adjusted?
No problems at all when running at other speeds.

Hi Jan
I have no answers for your problem but would like your opinion on the 115hp opti, other than your cooling is it a good motor and would you recommend it, are they good on fuel and are they noisey, do they require a lot of maintenance.

I may be mistaken, but I didn't think that the 115 optimax had a alarm for low temperature in the power head.

It has a alarm for low water pressure in the power head, high water temperature in the power head. It also may alarm if you have a temp sensor gone bad.
How are you determining you have a low water temerature alarm? Are you getting this alarm on the warning horn, or do you have smart craft guages installed?

Re: Optimax - over cooling

Hi

It is the warning horn that beeps. It only does one beep after running idle for 2-3 minuts. It has never done it going faster. A friend of mine told me that this meant that the water temperature was too low - ie it is cooling to good when running idle. I have checked oil, water in the gasolin and so on. Typically I start the engine in the harbour and let in running, and if I am not fast with the mooring lines then it beeps!

Beside that it is an excellent piece of machinery. It have never let me down. it is really good for water sports, economical but - in my subjectiv assessment - it does make more noise than the equivalent four stroke. It is a deeper sound and is my peronal assesment. I have never mesaured it.

Thanks Jan, I am in the process of upgrading to the 115hp Opti from a 90 hp 2 stroke, I have checked out batteries and will require a new one (750cca) I don't think the sound of the opti will be louder than my 90hp.
I hope you get the source of your problem, do you still have warranty, if so take it to the supplier and let them do a diagnostic test.
