Hello, ok so i am trying to fill a outboard gear oil, so remove top bolt, and then bottom bolt, oil drains out ... o.k. now i have a plastic squeeze bottle that i am jamming in the bottom bolt hole and squeeze the heck so that oil flows out the top bolt hole, this is good, so now while keeping firm grip on bottle i put in the top bolt with seal and tighten, soooo the tricky part remove the bottle quickly and also quickly put bolt back in while not too much oil leaks out. So how do i know if the level of oil is full enough ? some has leaked out, or should i not worry so much ??????

Mant Thanks in advance, this round's on me ... cheers !

Completely normal and it happens to everybody... Like they say, don't cry over spilt oil....

Mine's an Emu draft, thanks.....

Merc recommends that you let 1-1/2 ounces run out after it's full. This gives you some room for expansion. You're good to go. See you did it right and didn't even know it... LOL..:D

Was there any water in the old oil?

Hello & many thanks,
the old oil came out free of any discolouration, looking a bit like the oil that went in.

Happy & safe boating, Bulldog.
