I recently bought a 85 hp Mercury. I cannot find a serial number anywhere! I've narrowed it to 73-75 based on the wiring harness used. Anyone have any ideas?
Ok, I located the Serial number. I guess older mercy have it in a different location. It's a 1976 merc 850. Trying to rewire this baby but none of the diagrams match. I heard it turn over but now I am getting no movement anywhere. The solenoid is showing 12v but not sending power to the cranking motor. Any ideas?
Does the motor have 4 coils ADI ignition or 1 coil and battery powered CDI distributor ignition? A 1976 Merc 850 should have ADI ignition. But you need to be sure, to get correct wiring diagrham.
