outdrive gasket question

When reinstalling the outdrive what type of sealer if any should I use on the gasket? Thanks.

If it is a mercruiser dont use any sealant.I usually spread some grease on before I put the gasket on and I spread some on the drive too.Fills any tiny voids that there may be and helps the drive come off easy and the gasket too!! Charlie

It is an 88 OMC Cobra.

hello<br /> on a cobra drive I use OMC adhesive M now known as super weather strip adhesive to hold the water passage oring in place and I wipe the face of the boot in the gimbal housing with perfect seal.<br /> the gasket I leave dry.<br /> good luck and keep posting

Things change guys......Iv been using loctite for the last five years or so. No gaskets on certain things. Works great!<br /><br />loctite.com
