Outdrive I.D. Question

Hi Everyone, I am a newbi and hope someone can help me. I bought an old boat with a Mercruiser outdrive. I found a sticker on the bellhousing that said Mercury and the number was 1667103. I called mercury marine but they said that was not a valid # for an outdrive but indicated it was for an outboard. I am trying to I.D. this so I can order some parts but don"t know what year it was manufactured. Can anyone help? I'd send some pictures if I knew how to upload them. If someone knows how to do that please show a link that will explain it. Thanks for any help. P.S. The boat is a 1957 Mitchell C.C. with a 350 Chevy.

Thanks Tommays. Someone said they thought it was a Type 11 also but they wern't sure.
