outdrive question on sloppy install

hi as most know i am going over my whole boat after major repairs gone bad..
the shop installed my alpha 1 and while they removed it the shop said the gimble bearing poped out..their cure was to sand the drive shaft rust clean. they said they reinstalled the new gimble bearing and it was good as new. question when i remove drive soon . should i be worryied. anyone ever heard of a rusty shaft doing to and if so what's the correct way to fix this..

anyone as i want to remove drive and prepared for it falling out. what do i do if that happens

Hopefully they did remove the rust and grease the shaft.I guess you won't know until you pull it.

Good Gawd man, pull the flippin' drive. If the gimbal bearing pulls out, then find out why. Don't just "WHAT IF" every thing you want to do to death. You never will get the boat done.
Get the OEM Service Manuals and follow it for dissassembly, inspection, and reassembly. If and when you have a question about something you don't understand or need clarification or help with, ask....... Many will offer assistance. But WHAT IF'S are just a waste of time.

thanks don . i got the book no more what ifs i was just nervous if i pulled the drive and it fell off again...making good progress like you said little things at a time correctly. trim is now fixed..trying to see what i have like you said. change the bellows as they are ripped now . exhaust as a huge rip.shooting like you said for next season . but in al likelyhood i will see the water in aug.
