outdrive seized on boat, any good suggestions?

i just went and pressed it down, it went down about 1.5 inches and made a click as it went into place, it has a rotation of about 45 degrees

also, pretty sure il have to remove it anyway as i plan on replacing a few o-rings in that area

thank you, i picked up a manual today as well. but didnt see the exact info i was looking for though, with the shift shaft "engaged". if i have it aimed straight ahead and try to turn the prop shaft clockwise it locks it in place and doesnt turn, if i tun the shaft to the 45 degree angle it locks it when i try to turn it counter clockwise. this is correct right??

this is a counter rotating unit so just reverse the F and R , with the arm facing in a straight line the prop locks in a counter clockwise motion,(forward) with the shaft turned to the right looking at the picture the prop locks in a clockwise motion (reverse)
