I was out in the bay last weekend had a nice day on the water and went back to the dock and the buttons on the throttle did nothing. there is a up, down button and a trailer button. after checking the fluid, and fiddling with the buttons for a bit I stripped back the 4 wires coming out of the throttle and jumped the red with the other 3 colors. I found the trailer wire and got it all the way up so I did not damage anything getting the boat out of the water. Now I need to fix it for next time I take the boat out. I an wondering if there is some kind of safety switch I need to buy? It seems odd if all 3 buttons go out at once. Did you do this stripping at the throttle control?

Much easier to do this at the pump. Have you checked the fuse?

Look at Dodges diagram. All you have to do to raise it is jumper from thr red wire to the small blue/ white terminal on the up solenoid. Jumper to the green/ white to lower.

I jumped the wires right at the throttle control, that is why I think it is in the throttle buttons somewhere, or a safety switch to make sure your in neutral?

I jumped the wire to temporarily fix it, I am just wondering how to permanently fix it? do I have to take the throttle apart? maybe a wire came unplugged or something...

What wires did you jump to fix it?

there are 4 wires coming out of the throttle, red, blue, green, purple. If you jump the red to any of these wires it moves, I think the red and the purple made it come all the way out of the water. Jumped the red to another one was down and one was up trim.

Then your permeate fix would be to replace the trim switch.

No Title

I found the problem. You have to push the button in and move the throttle forward and then pry the button off to access the 11/16 bolt holding the throttle lever on. Pull the throttle off and like I thought my power wire was broken. All I have to do now is solder it back together and I will be good to go.

Glad you found the problem, but sure don't see how it could have moved the trim by jumping the circuit with it being broke

I jumped the red wire from the transom that was still hot before the broken section to the other wire I mentioned earlier by-passing the switch
