2003 sea ray sundancer 260 5.0mpi bravo III. Gauge goes up to 180 degrees and alarm sounds. If i hook up direct hose to flush it drops to 165 and alarm goes off. Although gauge says 180 nothing goes over 165 on a temp laser. Replaced impeller, temp sensor and thermostat. This is a jasper repower with all new exhaust and drive. If i unscrew blue plug a good amout of water shoots out. Thoughts ?? Thanks
There are three switches on engine which can make alarm sound - high engine temp, low oil pressure, and low drive lube bottle . All three of these switches make the ground connection to the block for the buzzer. Thsee are completely separate from oil pressure and temp senders that work the gauges By sending an ohm signal back to gauge.
buzzer should sound when cranking until oil pressure comes up,that is normal. If you are positive engine is not actually hot, disconnect all three alarm switches from the harnes start it and hook each one back up one at a time To see what is setting it off. Temp switch is on thermostat housing and can be removed put in hot water and check for continuity.
it would be a coincidence that the temp gauge reads hot and say drive lube switch is bad but stranger thangs have happened .
