We have a 1981 140HP OMC I/O 4-cylinder. Stern Drive.
Problem: getting it ready for the season, changed oil, turn the engine over, started no problem, but after few minutes started over heating, really hot. Thought it could be the thermastate, so replaced. Still overheating. No water getting up from the leg.
Help anyone.:(

Try this in the I/O section of the forum. Sounds like a bad impeller, but I'm not an I/O guy.

Thanks for your reply, I did place my situation in the I/O area. What is an impeller? Sorry for asking I am new to the boating world.

Re: over heating engine

The impeller is the water pump for the engine. It'll be located in the outboard portion, somewhere. Someone over at the I/O section will help, I'm sure.
