I have a 1998 250hp OX66.
Water pump impeller changed this past spring, low hours all season (50-75 hrs)in saltwater.
Boat is moored, no fresh water engine rinse until hauled out.
No problems all season, or ever, for that matter.
When hauling for the season, everything ran fine.
Put boat on the trailer, and drove home (2 miles).
Put on the muffs for a fresh rinse, and for the very first time, an overheat alarm.
I assume the impeller is fine with so few hours.

She's all "winterized" and wrapped. Early next spring where do I start?

Thermostats?
Poppet valve? (whatever that is...)
Should it have been thoroughly rinsed with "salt away"?
Your thoughts/experiences/opinions would be most appreciated.
Thanks.
