1999 merc 125 outboard oil injected with around 100hr's on it<br /><br />i was going around 3000r's and the motor got louder and died. i looked back and saw a lot of grass coming out from around the prop. it was smoking like mad. my dumb first thought was to start it and get water to cool it down. it started and ran for around 30 seconds and died as soon as water started to come out the little hole. so around 20 minutes later i start it up and it runs fine. i took it up to 4800r's for a little while and then ran at 1500r's for a few miles down a chanel.<br /><br />i get home and pull the plugs and three are really wet and 1 is dry. i'm getting around 135-140 compression. the pistons are soaking wet and black. i cleaned the plugs and put them back in. ran it and it was leaking water from the top two plugs. i pulled the plugs again and all four where wet but the third down i could see a little water on the plug.<br /><br />what's the chances i cracked the block and how would i check for it?<br />or what should i look for?<br /> i'm guessing the compression it a little low?<br /><br />does the head plate have to come off to fix where the water is leaking? it looks like a freeze plug with a hole where the plug goes threw.<br /><br />thank you for your time.
