i have a 1995 yamaha 225 saltwater series 3, it overheats..The one head is the only one that overheats, it gets up to upper 180's and the other head stays in the 150's...when i pull the sensor for the head that overheats the alarm quits..i tried to flush the motor and replaced thermostsats..i dont know what else to do, if anyone has any ideas please let me know..

thanks...

Re: overheating 225 outboard

if you have already replaced water pump and thermostats, you should check the pressure relief valve(poppit valve).
replace the poppit valve. make sure yor remove the old gromet and clean up the opening removing any corrosion. this is what keeps the valve from moving free. if stuck open just dumps water
