Hi everyone.
So, I have a new to me motor, it seems to run fine but the overheat alarm is sounding mostly when i slow down to a crawl after a run, or sometimes while idle for long and then start out slow. It doesn't normally do this when out giving it some gas.
So the motor looks good all around, and it looks like someone recently installed new bolts for the lower unit, so I it looks like someone may have recently changed the impeller, but I am not sure.
The motor seems to pee fine, before I go ripping the lower unit off an outboard for the 1st time myself, is there anything else I should check ?
The motor, when the alarm is sounding at the head is a bit to hot to touch with your hand for more than a second or two.
On thing i don't understand about taking off the lower unit is why in the repair man it say to "remove the starter" is this just for saftey, also unbolding the shift link cable ? it seems far away from the lower unit.
What else can go wrong with the cooling system, I guess a tstat maybe..
thanks
