Overheating issue

I have a 1996 SeaRay, it has a 5.7L mercruiser with a mercruiser outdrive. I was very stupid and left my boat in a marina a while ago and never took it out to clean it. Since, when running higher speeds and when running in my driveway, the temp goes up and when at higher speeds gets almost to full gauge. When running slow, no problems... Any suggestions? Also, were can I find a service manual for my boat so I can perform maint. on it?

Sounds like you may have some growth in your water passages. I would not run it anymore until you get this fixed.

I found downloadable original mercruiser factory manuals for my merc 4.3 on 4shared.com. There are links on this site.

That's wierd, I found both manuals, over 400 pages each on that site. I got the links from this site. If you want to private message me with your address I don't have a problem sending you a CD. They are too big to email, over 100 MB.

Re: Overheating issue

number one cause of higher rpm overheats on alphas is the lower gasket seal on the water pump is failing, allowing exhaust gases to be sucked into the cooling water

time for a new impeller/gasket kit install

also, as stated, check for marine growth in pick up area
