Overheating???

I have a 1988 bayliner capri and it idles at 175 degrees Fahrenheit on the muffs is this ok? I bought the boat a week ago and looked at the impeller it shows no sign of rot or wear. Just wondering if it should idle at that temp. The motor is a three litre omc? Another question do they have two impellers or just one?

Welcome aboard.

One impeller. There is a circulation pump up in the engine though.

Take it out to the lake and put around a little bit. If it holds 175, punch it up and see if it starts to overheat. If not, I think it's okay. I think the stat is a 160 degree stat, but 160 - 180 is still normal.
