I have a 2003 OX66 150HP that I bought off ebay a while back. It is rigged up but we are having trouble getting it to start. When it is turned over it will fire on one or two cylinders (enough to drop out the starter) and then it stops. It will start-up when starting fluid is shot in but only runs 5-10 seconds. No buzzers, Lanyard in, VST pressure at the shrader 38psi. Gauges read normal. Can anyone please venture a guess or point me in the right direction.

Thanks

don't use starter fluid it will burn out your motor.

You probably have ethanol poisoning and need the carbs done.

I do not think that is the problem. The motor does not have any carbs, it is throttle body EFI. The fuel I Am using is new and we do not get high ethenol gas here. but thanks

the vst pressure, does it drop at all wile starting at all, there should be some movement there, have you checked the comprestion, plugs, and spark, it should only have spark on 4 cyclenders, out of gear below 1500rpm

could be fouled injector screens, a clogged pressure regulator screen or TPS is out of wack.
do you have a test light winky blinky?

I will wantch the vst, I did not notice a drop. There is some slight movement. Compression is good, plugs are new. I did not know the injectors have screens, I will check them and perform the tps proceedure. Does anyone know how sensative these motoers are to gas quality/ octane level? I am also going to buy the test light do you know what the part number is.
Thanks

Re: OX66 150 HP won't start

I ordered a winky blinky but i will not get it until next week. I cleaned the injector screens and checked the TPS. It is set to read around .5vdc at idle but then only reads 3.25vdc wide open with the butterflies horz. Does anyone know if this is normal, the book indicated the upper reading should be around 5.0vdc.

Just wanted to thank everyone who is offering help.

I knew it would be something simple and its was once I finally feel it to it. The harness to the stator was connected but not fully seated. I pushed it together and all is well.

Thanks again to everyone for the help.

Re: OX66 150 HP won't start

glad ya got it sorted out.
the amount of mis information on this thread is ****** appaling.
your OX66 motor runs on all six cylinders all the time. only the 3.1L non VX motors use CCS.
your TPS numbers are about normal. did you check your 5 V reference to the TPS?
the HPDI, also known as Z, motors use a nuetral shut down of cylinders but only in nuetral.
the HPDI can be identified by the Z or VZ in front of the model number.
