It's been many years since I last packed a Mercury foot with grease. Seem to remember I removed two plugs, one to insert grease, one to force out old grease. Would appreciate the procedure, type of grease, etc. Packing a 1977 50hp Mercury. Thanx

Re: Packing Mercury foot

I think the grease was called Lubriplate 105. many folks use good quality gear oil nowadays; I've seen it talked about on this forum before. I suggest you use the search feature to search this forum. In my 1956 Mercury Mark 55E I used gear oil. Use synthetic (no more than it holds, might as well) I'm going to add 10% STP to improve viscosity.<br />There are two screws on the foot. You squirt the stuff in the bottom hole until it comes out of the top. Be sure to replace the screw gaskets.
