I have added 2 coats of primer and sanded it down. I just need to paint. How many coats would be good? BTW I have two paint guns one has 12cfm and the other has 9cfm. The 9 is a detail gun and the 12 is the regular. My air compressor can't handle that much. My dad used a gun with a 7cfm and it worked fine. Do you think I should start with my 9 or just try 12 and see how it goes?

Whatever gun suits the fan size and the material the best is the one you should use :) ...

How many coats is dependent on What paint system you use. Normally its a tack coat and 2 topcoats.

Might need to make sure that this paint job goes better then the last. Did paint prep go better more thorough then last time:

My paint job is coming off

A water & oil separator/filter may help remove any contaminants that might be coming out of your compressor or air hose. Hoses connected to 'oiled' air tools can have small amounts of oil left in/on the fittings.

You didn't post any more details other then:
I wiped it down but I didn't spend a lot of time doing that so it's possible that there was oil behind it. I will give it more time. Any ideas what I should do... wipe off the primer that comes off and re-paint after a week?

You had a pretty good list of suggestions & tips in the other thread, did any of those sound accurate or prove helpful?

BTW did you use self-etching/zinc chromate (or similar as suggested by YD &/or Zool) on the bare aluminum this go around? Or 'just' the primer that peeled?
