Paint recommendation for Aluminum rail

I previously posted asking recommendations for repainting a galvanized angle cap rail the runs around my old 18' BW hull and received excellent and helpful information. It turns out that the metal is actually aluminum, (which I realized after a magnet would not hold to it). So my question is for painting recommendations for aluminum. The piece is about 1-1/2"x1-1/2"x1/8" and runs all around the top edge of the hull. The old paint is peeling off.

Similar to the advice you got in the galv steel rubrail thread:

Prep well (remove all old paint or sand smooth) and use a self etching primer, then Rustoleum Aluminum primer, then paint with a good oil based paint like Rustoleum and add enamel hardener to it.

Edited it ^^^ to change it from galv prep to aluminum prep

Sand it, prime it with zinc chromate and top coat it with any quality paint ........ since it is a top rail and will get allot of use I would suggest a good urethane marine paint

The results are all equal to the prep.

sand and paint with an aluminum mcu metallic paint. - google MCU and also "aluthane"

Option #2 - Sand & Polish????
