Paint remover?

Where is the best place to get bottom pain remover. And if so then the least expensive as well. I want to take off all the old bottom paint of the boat and wax it and polish and then apply new coats. Also how many gallons would you guys estimate i would need for a 27 foot boat.

I don't think you mean to wax and polish it, and then paint....you want to dewax it, then paint.

U can strip it off with Aircraft stripper for fiberglass, but both the old paint, and the stripper are toxic, so protect yourself..you can also just sand it all straight, then put the antifouling system on...

Well i mean just polish up the boot and make clean it all nice and then put all new paint.

I got ya, last time I did my 28'- 10' beam, it took just under 2 gallons, that was 2 coats.

How did you apply it! Just a roller? And how long you wait till you start scrapping?

I just want to clarify, I meant 2 gallons of paint, not stripper...and I just brush it on with cheapo HD chip brushes, and start poking at it right away, you don't want to leave it on too long, also, try it in an out of the way spot 1st, to see how it goes. Its strong stuff...

I will be blasting it off mine now with walnut shells, because its faster and less messy

Media blasting is probably the most effective. There are mobile companies that will do it with walnut shells, plastic chips or baking soda.

There might not be a need to strip it......just run a sander over it and paint over the old stuff. It will do nothing that will effect the performance properties of the paint or the performance of the boat

I juat wanted to clean the hull 100% since it was sitting in saltwater all its life.
