I am getting ready to strip and paint my boat, i was wondering if it would be ideal to go ahead and do the transom and floor now, it looks solid but the boat is a 79, so just wondering. i will be ripping up the front nose portion to make it all flat instead of a raised step also. some input would be great.

Re: painting boat

Little confused. You say strip and paint - do you mean remove old paint or remove items from the interior?
Regards to the deck and transom - if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
And I'd be careful on doing any mods to the bow area. That deck piece may be structural. Just my $.02 :D

HI all , my .02 is 79, is allmost 30 years old !!! I am doing a 77 right now, it was in bad shape , and if your going to have it apart i would do it now rather then in a few years.that just my two cents for what its worth. lol John

I had to do the same to my boat. Since you are in it might as well do it now all at once and you will have peace of mind for years to come.

thanx for the replys, i am probably gonna do the transom and if i get the tank out and there is rot i will go ahead and do the floor as well. I want a sea cast transom for peace of mind. thanx everyone. I deceided not to do the front part of the boat UNLESS i have to pull the floor.
