I have a 2-year-old Lowe Roughneck aluminum jonboat. It is painted green. The floor and decks get so hot in the summer you can't touch them. I want to paint over the green with a flat or non-glare off-white. Maybe add some kind of non-skid material to it to keep it from being slippery. My questions are: what kind of paint could be used to paint over the existing paint? What kind of prep needs to be done before painting? And could a rubber particle, soft-type non-skid material be used - something that is easy on bare feet? This is not a glamour boat. It is a working/fishing boat. So esthetics are not a high priority. Any help is appreciated!

As jb said pixs would help .. As long as the existing paint is adhered well and not pealing or bubbling up there's no reason you cant paint it ..
Give it a good cleaning to get rid of any oil and gunk .. Scruff it up real good with say 100 grit sand paper .. Acetone wipe down then use rusto enamel
With hardener .. If its bare metal a light spray with some self etching primer before finish paint . As far as non-skid additive look around I,m sure you can find something thats easy on the tootsie's .. Probably here at iboats store ..
:) Sometimes it takes a while to get feedback from questions you ask ..
Sometimes the sight is busy with folks and sometimes not ..

All of the above ideas are good ideas for sure. Another idea you may consider is rubber matts. There are a lot of rubber warehouse companies that sell to the general public and have loads of rubber sheet options. I bought some rubber sheets from one of them and very satisficed with they products. You could paint the inside of the boat to reduce sun glare and heat absorption. And then custom cut out floor rubber matts so the tootsies are not burning in the sun. Just an idea and you could easily remove the matts to wash the boat out every now and then... JMHO
