Re: Painting with Perfection

so in theory, if i was trying to make the boat white could i just use the primer as the paint?

Well yes it would have a very orange peeled look, you do have to thin that stuff down it's very thick :D think of it as liquid fiberglass with a pigment and it dry's as hard..It certainly would have a different look. But i would call Interlux and see if it will hold up in water by itself or if it is uv stable aka it might not be stable when exposed to a enviroment by itself

Ya know quite frankly you may just want to shoot gel coat if you dont want a finished look, PM Ondarvr or post a new thread, the guy know's his stuff..

No i actually did prime on the Wellcraft, but the Starcraft i have not primed the interior, just cleaned off the gell with sandpaper and rolled it out. It worked fine and i have did a few abrasion test's stick's like glue.

If your a painter, get yourself a old mirror and try that rolling method, that is roll it on,3-4 minutes later go back and flatten the bubbling or stipple's and watch her level.......it's differnt but works very well....good luck..;)

Thanks Tail Gunner for sharing.

what were or are your thoughts on badges for your boat?
any ideas if the lack of them will hurt or help your resale value?
i think your boat looks great without them but because it's a wellcraft
i'd be proud to have that logo on as well.

Really nice job, I am looking forward to paint my own boat now. Where did you get the perfection? I am finding a lot of "push" for the bright sides. You seem to say the perfection will be O.K. for the bottom as long as the boat isn't left in the water for long periods, do you think it would hold up to a week long trip once or twice a year? Would a gallon be enough for a 19' trihull below the rub rail?

Perfection is without doubt a better paint, before talking about it's final finish the stuff is so hard you can bang it hard on a dock or rail and there are no scratch's . It's finish is without a doubt Perfection.

Im not saying it's the end all paint by any mean's, it is the first i have used and will be the last, i need no better.

But there color selection is so so..........
