if you want to help give to charity.....plenty of help out there.....and by the way your not helping anybody or yourself by giving your hard earned money to a bum...

Yeah, I've thought of this too. But then you see these stories on the news about charity organizers embezzling funds or putting only a small portion of the donations to the actual charity. I know there's a lot of good people out there too, but it's not easy to trust people these days.

the only time in recent memory that I've given anybody money, was a guy at a gas station asked for some cash (his car was parked next to a pump). told him I didn't carry cash, but I would give him the change from my cup holder (from when I did carry cash, lol). he said that's better than nothing, so I gave it to him, watched him go inside and give it to the cashier, and come back out and pump $2.84 worth of gas.

the guys with the signs at the red lights on the way home from work get nothing from me.

I don't give to panhandlers. There are some with signs such as ''wanting to work, but i still have to eat''. Things like that. There was a time in my past life where I was down and out, but I never begged for money. I walked the streets until I found work. I will give to someone who needs it but doesn't beg for it. Especially when kids are involved. I've read some great comments on this post. Very interesting.
