I have a 45hp Classic Fifty 4 cyl. w/ SN: 0B272498
I am trying to find a thermostat and poppet valve.

mercuryparts express' system doesn't recognize my serial number and my local dealer is questioning if "I'm sure my motor has a thermostat and poppet valve"
I am troubleshooting a high temp alarm at 3700+ RPM's

I'm hoping that someone can give a me part numbers so I can try and buy them somewhere.

the 4 cylinder 50/45/40 has neither a thermostat nor poppet valve. look elsewhere for your overheat problem...

Hmmmmm. I thought all 2-cycle outboards used a thermostat. The tell-tale doesn't spit out water until the motor has been running a few seconds......I wonder how that is accomplished w/o a thermostat?

Anyhow, thanks for the reply. That explains why I cannot find the parts:/
I guess I need to tear it down to investigate.
