part number or where to buy tilt trim motor for Johnson TLE 70HP tracker engine

Hello everyone,

I have 12 volts going to the tilt / trim electric motor but nothing therefore I am assuming my electric motor is kaput. I looked on the part section of I boats but was unable to locate one that will fit a Tracker (johnson) TJ70TLESF S# G02492626

Any help in the part number and where to buy would be appreciated.

According to my parts breakdown PN-0394176, sierra # 18-6759. Contact local repair shop for OEM part. Might be able to order sierra part from NAPA. Double check PN with vendor.

you have a 1990 before you buy a motor make sure it is the motor. open the tilt control box, remove the solenoid (little black cube) now look at the wires, you have a RED and GREEN on one solenoid, and a RED and BLUE on the other solenoid. take a jumper wire from red to the other color on that solenoid, this put power directly to the motor, if the motor runs in both directions the motor is good, and replace the solenoids. here are the replacement solenoids http://www.iboats.com/Boat_Parts_Ac...38586--submit.Search--submit.x.39--submit.y.8

Thanks for the reply but I am pretty confident the motor has a short. The resistance is in the M on the ohm meter where as it should be about .3 ohms based on the stalled amp draw at 12 volts.

The outside diameter of my electric motor is 2.4" and the wires come out the bottom side. I have the electric motor at a shop but have not heard from them how much to fix. If anyone knows the replacement electric motor p/n, please let me know.

Also what is the part number for the fuel quick connect on the motor for a 1990 Johnson 70 HP out board. I somehow lost mine and desire to connect the fuel properly versus a temp solid fuel line.

PS - I found why my motor would rev then go into limp mode - the thermostat was not working properly and water pump needed to be replaced. A friend helping me out said to simply remove the thermostatt since I do not use the boat in cold water / conditions.

replace the tstat, it is there for a reason so that the motor runs at the optimum temperature. you can actually do damage running without it.
