i have a chance to pick up a complete motor for cheap and was wondering, can some parts from an evenrude fastwin 15 horse be used on same model only 18 horse? i know carbs probably wouldnt, im looking at lower end, and some of the internal parts such as linkages, etc.

Re: parts compatability

it depends on the year of the 15 hp. The 1955 and 56, should be mostly interchangeable with the 18's. Prior years will have more mechanical differences.

Re: parts compatability

the 18 is a 1965, the 15 is close to it if not the same judging by the motor covers... if they were side by side they could be twins

Re: parts compatability

You will find some parts are the same and many are not. It would be a matter of exactly which part are you interested in.

The 18 would be a larger displacement engine and thermostat controlled cooling. It has a fuel pump instead of pressure tank feed. Carburetor would be bigger bore, but use more or less the same kit. Ignition and water pump similar. Gears might be different..would have to check on that.

EDIT: Oops, just reread your post. A 1965 is way different looking than an earlier 15. Better check the year.
