parts for a 57or 58 12hp Sears

I have a 1957 or 58 Sears 12hp. I have been told that it was manufactured by McCulloch, but in reading some of the other posts, I think it might not be. The Model# is 571.58901, The serial number is 901 7662. I need help in identifing this motor for sure. It had at some time an electric start on it and would like to find a starter if possible.<br />Thanks,<br />Ryan

You're right, Elgin model number 571.58901 is a 1955 West Bend built 12hp, not a McCulloch.<br /><br />The first stop I would make looking for a starter would be Twin City Outboards. Good luck!
