For a 1980 Envinrude 115hp.

There is a piece of plastic inside the control box that moves when the idle lever is moved. One end sits in a hole in the housing and the other end sits in a groove that moves with the idle lever.

Mine is broken. What chance to find a new replacement or should I be looking in used places?

Try ishopmarine.com for a diagram and a part number. Local dealer should have it. If it is the piece that is connected to the throttle cable, then that piece will come already attached to a replacement cable kit which is available at almost all dealers.

All the parts in that remote are still available. Go to ishopmarine.com, click Parts Lists, then drill down to your model of outboard. Choose Remote Control from the list of subassemblies and find the part you need. With the part number in hand, you can get the part wherever you like.
