I am rebuilding a 1976 Sangster 21 hardtop, power is I6 and MC1 outdrive. I am well into the transom/ stringer/deck replacement and it looks like next weeks weather may convince me to look at collecting parts to put the outdrive back together. I will need all the parts/gaskets to re install the transom assembly and outdrive. Is there a parts kit I can get for this job or do I need to piece all the parts together individually? I believe the parts I will need to complete this are:
gimbal housing seal
lower shift cable assembly
transom seal kit (can I purchase the SEI kit for this application?)
Do I need specific bolts to fasten the inner transom shield to the gimbal housing, or can I size up some stainless steel from a fastener supply house?
When I removed the engine from the transom assembly, it did not have the special spring washer or fiber washer, I assume they are for a good reason and I should get a set of those? Any advice or suggested vendors for the re assembly?
