Parts needed to remove and install Cobra outdrive?

I will be removing and installing my oudrive which is a 1988 OMC Cobra.

I will be installing a new engine which is why I am removing it so I can align the engine.

I have the actual manual for the outdrive. There is only one place locally that I can get the parts from but they are kinda clueless unless I know exactly which part and even then its hit or miss.

After reading the manual it says I need:

"2 new shaft O-rings"
"6 new mounting studs"
"6 new lock-nuts"

After looking at the blow up drawings I am pretty sure I will need the gasket that goes from the upper gear housing to the transom assy.

Has anyone ever done this on this particular Cobra model? Is there anything else I need or does anyone have part numbers?

For the mounting studs and lock nuts, can I just use stainless steel ones of the same diameter, thread, and size from say Home Depot or Lowes?

Any suggestions or help is greatly appreciated. Thanks

I haven't replaced the studs or locknuts yet on mine and have had it off at least 4 times, you can tell when nylocks get worn out mine are still good.
Just my observations. There probably more guys going to tell you to replace them than not, I don't think you'll find them at Home Depot so be prepared to fork some coin.

You can get stainless steel locknuts from Fastenal if you have a store near you. The gasket set you can get here on iboats, the part number is 18-2613.

The o-rings will come with the gasket kit.

Wouldn't worry about the studs and lock nuts. No one does and haven't heard of them being a problem. Just corporate cya. The gasket set will come with all the o-rings, etc. Make sure you coat the gasket, both sides, with Aviation Permatex. Use Spline, or a good MOLY grease on the shaft splines when you reinstall (shaft hard steel/coupler aluminum splines). A little oil or grease on the 2 o-rings that go in the Gimbla brg. too, to help slip in. Glue the Water o-ring to the bell housing with some GaskaCinch or similar gasket adhesive to insure it stays put. And a little grease on the inside of the outer end of the bellows help the u-joint yolk slip in easier.

Clean out the cavities where the shift arm is if there is any sand, or corrosion there as it will eventually jam the shifter if left to build up.

When draining and changing the drive oil, drain from the lowest plug, reinsert that plug and remove the one a little higher and further forward and fill form there to prevent trapped air in the drive. Fill to the ring on the top plug/dip stick. try to be as close as possible and recheck after running.
