passenger capacity

I have a 1993 Tracker TX17 and need to know how many passengers they are rated for. I have searched the boat over and can't find it anywhere. Thanks for any help.

If your is anything like this one Pro Team 190 TX
1,500 pounds maximum weight capacity and maximum four-person weight of 760 pounds.

Tracker marine ........ 560 lbs so LOL 3 people + because the USCG considers a person 150 lbs.

FYI, It is not an option....

under the US Coast Guard federal boat safety act of 1971, boats less than 20 feet powered with an inboard, outboard, or stern drive engine manufactured after november 1, 1972, must display a capacity plate defining the safe load limits. This plate must be mounted where you can see it when preparing to get underway.

States are different. Here they look at the plate. You may want to check with the authority that does inspections in your area to find out what you need.

FYI, It is not an option....

It's mandatory for the manufacturer, but a private owner is not required to have one by federal regs. Individual states may have other regs.

should be 4 persons or 595#. the tag should be on the inside of the transom well.

If that's a 17' boat I would think no more than four average-sized people would max it out.

FYI, It is not an option....

As far as I can tell, that line was written by boatus, which carries no legal weight whatsoever. As others have pointed out, if you dig into the federal USCG rules, there is zero requirement for an owner to have that plate. The ONLY requirement is that the original OEM manufacturer made sure it was on there when it left the factory. (note, some states do require it though...)

My current boat is a 16.5 inboard (jet) rated for 6 people... Every single trihull i've owned has been a) shorter than 17 ft, and b) rated for more than 4.
