Hi
Having read on these forums how good PB Blaster is, I brought a can home with me from my recent holiday in the USA. I can't believe how good it works! Far, far better than anything we can buy here in the UK.

So, I thought I'd try to get some shipped over. One place that was prepared to send it overseas said it would cost $203 in shipping to send 2 cases, (24 cans). I tried i-boats, but they don't currently ship overseas.

Does anyone know of a cheaper way to get some sent over? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks
Steve

I haven't used it but I notice that it is a hazmat item so shipping is likely to be expensive. How does it compare with WD-40?

Re: PB Blaster.

Bayman, WD 40 doesn't compare to PB Blaster. Thanks to this site and the good people on here, I've made a hobby out of repairing old outboards. With all the stuck bolts, I am forever having to get the blowtorch out! But with the blaster, I'm getting most stuck bolts out without having to use heat!

Rodbolt, I will certainly be asking anyone I know who's going to the States, to bring a can or two back with them! As you say, overseas shipping costs are a joke!

I have managed to find another American produced penetrating fluid on sale over here, but don't know how good or bad it is. It's called JB 80. Anyone ever used this one?, and is it any good?

Thanks
Steve

Re: PB Blaster.

This stuff must be really awesome like you say because I've freed up some bolts with WD-40 that I didn't think would ever move. I'll have to try it out...it's amazing that something that only costs a few dollars could save so much time.

On the description on iboats it says:
"Powerful penetrating oil that frees stubborn rusted or immobilized parts. Leaves a protective film after penetration. Displaces moisture."
http://www.iboats.com/mall/index.cgi?prod_id=4424

Would this also be good to work on my ball hitch to protect it from rust? It bugs me how you buy a shiny chrome ball and it gets rusty in no time!

Re: PB Blaster.

It is certainly saving me some time. I broke 4 bolts which were frozen whilst removing the lower unit on an old 1973 Evinrude 6hp. It took me about 20 minutes to remove all 4 studs using the blaster! Then I had a Johnson 9.9 with the drive shaft stuck in the crankshaft. I tipped it upside down and squirted some blaster down the shaft and it came out after about 10 minutes!

I would imagine that it would protect yourball hitch too.

Re: PB Blaster.

Surely an automotive repair shop in England would have a similar product for the shop. Maybe you need to make friends with a mechanic, and convince him to sell you a can of whatever they use.

Re: PB Blaster.

"Kroil" is one that compares with PB blaster, one thing though; they are caustic and corrosive so be sure to wash it off and oil any parts you want to re-use.WD-40 is an excellent cleaning fluid and a fair lubricant but doesn't protect for a long time.Any one else out there remember when "Liquid Wrench" was#1? It smelled then like Kroil does now.

Yeah, I loved the smell of Liquid Wrench. Havn't seen any in years, though.

Gunk - Liquid Wrench is still out there. I just bought a big aerosol can last month. They have a foaming penetrant too.

Still have an old small non aerosol can from 30some years ago.
I just keep it on the shelf cause it looks cool.

Yeah, I got a can of it in the garage now. I got to agree with the OP though; that PBBlaster is some good stuff.

I am a big fan of PB. It was instrumental in the rebuilding of my old 1970 IH Scout.

Re: PB Blaster.

I may have got it sorted now. A company in the states has quoted me $40-$50 shipping for a case. Comes by boat! That's a lot better than the £203 I was quoted by air!

The mechanics over here use plusgas, which probably about the best we can get, but is nowhere as good as PBBlaster.

Just as an added point of interest, some sea fishermen over here spray their bait with WD 40! They say it increases their catches. I've actually seen it done, and although I can't say they caught any more than I did without it, they certainly didn't catch any less either!

Cheers
Steve

There was a thread here that discussed a lot of things about WD40 as an attractant here:

http://www.iboats.com/cgi-bin/ubb/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=8;t=001267

Re: PB Blaster.

WOW!!! I just used the shipping calculator on IBoat to ship a can to zip code 98226, $22.33 for ground shipping for one can.
I have never seen it around here, I will have to look around. Any suggetions where it is sold?
I use about 12 cans of WD40 a year, never go w/o one on the boat to spray the bait and spoons for Salmon, works great when there is fish around to attreact.

Re: PB Blaster.

I don't think there is Western Auto store any where around here any more. I am about 100 miles north of Seattle, WA. Lots of Ace and True Test. I will just have to keep my eyes open when I am out carusing around.

Unfortunately this is a hazmat item. The shipping companies charge extra for hazmat. It's best to buy hazmat items at stores near you when possible.

Re: PB Blaster.

I just found Seafoam & PB blaster at a local John Deere lawn tractor dealers parts department.
I've gotten PB blaster at Pep Boys, but could never find seafoam locally.
