Pedestal Seats?

I was wondering if I could mount pedestal seats to the bench seats on my Sea Nymph. I'm 6'3" so these clamp on seats aren't the most comfortable things for me. Could somebody give me advice as to how to mount seats to the benches? (i.e. what kind of screws, etc). Thanks!

Re: Pedestal Seats?

You can buy the pedestal seat mount at Wal-mart, iboats and pretty much any outdoor store. It will entail you drilling a hole in your benches for the mount to fit in where the pedestal goes into it. One thing I will caution you about though, you are going to move the center of gravity of that seat way up with a pedestal. Might make the boat unstable at best and dangerous at worst. They also sell seat mounts that are only about 8" tall that might fit you better and be a little safer. You could also get a pedestal mount with a short pedestal to do the same thing. I am 6'4" so I fully understand the uncomfortable fit of sitting that low with my knees bent. I have been in a narrow boat like you have and sat on a pedestal and it was way more unstable than sitting on the bench though.

Link is for pedestal mounts:

Link is for other mount I was talking about:

Re: Pedestal Seats?

I have a clamp-on seat for my 12' AeroCraft and I agree that for taller folks it would be nice to stretch out the legs while fishing(I'm 6'5").

I will be adding a pedestal base and use a removable post so that when I am anchored or drifting I can sit up high...and then remove the post to sit lower when under power.

I agree that sitting too high will lead to instability.
