The top side of my hull is dull looking.
I've heard so many pros and cons about Penetrol- such as it is virtually impossible to remove.
Used an acrylic polymer last season but wasn't crazy about how it held up and wound up removing it- A PAIN! Would Penetrol be a good solution. Used this stuff on my dashboard and interior and it looks good. The topside of the boat is white.
Thank you for your reply.

Re: Penetrol on white fiberglass

I have used Penetrol with great success for years, but notice that it tends to make white appear yellowed. After noticing this on some white trim adjacent to the colored portions on my boat I have been reluctant to apply it on all the white areas. In those areas that some Penetrol got on the white, it definitely looks glossy but a slightly deepened color, off-white. It probably is an improvement, but none-the-less I've not intentionally put it on the white areas.

I wouldn't be concerned about trying an area though, below the gunwale it will wear off in six weeks, or can easily be removed with SoftScrub. It's still the easiest method for restoring faded dark colors on old boats.

I have used it on colored gelcoat and it worked well.I would not put it on topside though. It will yellow .The topside needs to be polished if it is chalky.Try polishing compound and follow it up with wax.Dont do it in the sun or it will dry before it lets you work it in.Charlie
