I am going to re-do my intake manifold and I read on the Mercruiser service manual to use Perfect Seal on the intake gasket.

Perfect Seal is a Quicksilver product designed specifically for Mercruiser.
It was listed on one website for $19.95.

My local Advance Auto has a simular product for a fraction of the costs.
It has no mention for Marine applications so I don't really want to use it.

Can Perfect Seal be bought through Napa or over the counter somewhere?
I have seen it online, but I really don't want to wait 3 or 4 days for it to arrive.

The aviation stuff is excellent and goes on really nicely. Try to find it!

Re: Perfect Seal

Is this for the front and rear lip of the intake?
If so i have used the Permatex black adhesive sealant and gasket maker with no issues..
My local Advance or Napa did not have the Aviation sealer.I had to order it.

Re: Perfect Seal

Im going to use the RTV black on the front and rear of the block. The Mercruiser service manual says to use Perfect Seal. I found Permatex Super 300 in Advance Auto...but not Permatex Aviation.

Clean the mating surfaces with alcohol or acetone before you run the bead of sealant...;)

I didnt have any alcohol or acetone, but I did have some brake parts cleaner. I also found the Permatex Aviation gasket maker at my local Napa store. It should do the trick. Im going to let the Black RTV sealer set up for 24 hours before I add oil and cmplete putting my engine back together. I followed the Mercruiser manual on the bolt tigntening sequence and 40 lbs of torque.
Hopefully, everything will run smoothly when this is all done.
