Has anyone used a pertronix ignitor 2 kit with their 2.5/3.0L? wondering how hard they are to wire and if they are worth the eighty bucks. The ignitor 2 is supposed to keep the dwell set perfect at all times throughout the rpm. anyone using one?

Re: Pertronix ignition

I just put the ingnitor I in this past year and it was extremely easy. Quicker starts, no points to change or adjust. Just another thing that does not need maintenance.

It was worth it to me..

Re: Pertronix ignition

I installed the Ignitor II in the Spring. Go for the 2, for an extra $20-25 it's well worth it. I originally got the 1 and sent it back (full refund) and got the 2. Install is easy and you'll love the smoother idle and better performance, especially if it's an older engine...mine is a 1989. The timing will have to be adjusted after install, mine was out about 12 degrees. One note...make sure the magnet that slides down the distributor shaft is well seated, otherwise the rotor will not go down all the way, and could damage the inside of the distrib cap. Good luck, you won't be disappointed.

It is almost impossible to beat this sites prices on Pertronix equipment...but you'll need to find the right application first...
http://www.carshopinc.com

Hey mrbill, when you say make sure the magnet is seated all the way, do you mean all the way down on the metal plate. While starting to install my unit, the rotor doesn't seam to go on far enough like it should. It will seat on the distributor so it will be spun by the distrubutor but it is barely on there. thanks
