Re: pic of work so far

you gotta look at the mil thickness when you buy tarps. The cheapo brands aren't much thicker than sheet plastic, nor any more resistant to shredding. I bought little better than average 25ft'r for my big boat and the frame I use to pull the cap off. Its worn where the tarp meets the uprights edges. I tried to patch the area, but that never works for long, and this year I put some shop rags on there to reduce the point stress, but the fact that it's pulled over those areas puts pressure and they start to push throw regardless when the wind hits and starts pushing and pulling on the tarp.

I may just throw a hundred bucks at a good fabric tarp, though I've seen some of the heavy duty billboard tarps on craigslist on occasion....I think those would hold up well, if you don't mind half advertising for some company.

boss has one of those.. its kind of a pain in the butt when its cold.

Re: pic of work so far

OK its my weekend again, and I am going to hit it really hard tomorrow !! man its getting me excited !! its getting so close to being done !! well I want to add light , LED light and other stuff after i am done with the painting , but its so close !!!!! lol I still haven't decided where i am starting , the transom or the top , guess it doesn't really matter but just getting it done !! I was thinking about this and I am hoping 2 weeks and it will be time to paint!! Like i said in a earlier post I am going to have to hit the transom with one more coat of TeX, and then sand that again !!

So i guess i just answered my own question , I will start on the transom and get a coat of TeX on there !!

Ohh and here is a close up of the drain hole that i Texed , It still has to be sanded but i like it !!! John

John, you've been doing a real great job on this boat. Especially the dash, that was a pretty slick method of filling in the holes.

Good luck, I know it will look great.

You don't want to see my transom :eek::eek:

John, you've sold me on the benefits of Marine Tex. I'm going to start buying it in small batches to accommodate my budget, but I can see that it is the one thing I can certainly get done to my boat this summer if I can't get it to the floor being installed. The before and after on that dash is amazing.

Thanks Steve , Its just that there isn't much room in there , but it might just work ??? but whats days do you have off ??

Ok , man there must have have been 300 holes, nicks, scratches , that was the frist coat of tex, then the second coat there must have been 100 spots that I had to hit !! Well now were down to 20 or so !! I still got to hit about 20 % of her today and then tex it for the last time !!! I hope

Now on the transom , I am hoping one more coat !! lol

And its about time to put up the pneumatic sandier, got to go to the long board !! Got my self in trouble a couple time yesterday, where i took too much off !!

Ok time to hit her !! John
