Picked Up a 4 Blade

I was at the Toronto Sportsmen's Show over the weekend and ended up picking up a Turning Point 21p 4 blade prop for my 19ft fish'n ski. I found that with a 23p 3 blade, it would plane out real slow when loaded but cruised at a higher speed for 2900-3000rpm by 3-4mph. The 21p 3 blade would plane better but had the slower cruising speed, so I figured I'd try a 4 blade. I'll report later in the season after I splash the boat in May.

Be sure to give us all the specs for all the props. You probably know the motor needs to operate within its designed rpm range. If it is below the wot rpm recommended it is below throughout its operation. And is not good for the motor.
There is an elusive balance between rpm, speed and throttle setting. The best result would very likely need a flow meter to
tell the difference between mileage with a good setup and an excellent setup.

Both the 21 and 23p props are within the recommended rpm range. The 21 runs at 4600rpm and the 23 at 44-4500rpm. So I'm good with that. It's the get up and go when we go tubing and also the most important for me, the cruising speed. We do quite a few trips that are 15-75 miles round trip each year which for a bowrider are plenty.

Typically a 4 blade will knock about 100-200 off the top of rpm;same pitch to same pitch.Usually will improve hole shot, stay on plane at reduced throttle better and respond better at the dock.

Your boating style sounds similar to mine. You will most likely be very satisfied with the 4blade. You will lose a few knots up top, but how often do you find yourself at wot for any sustained amount of time anyway?

I'm rarely at WOT for any length of time, gas is too expensive.
