Re: Pickups

I just bought a new chevy 4 dr to pull my boat with, 1/2 ton no less. I tried them all out and the ride and performance made me throw rocks at the rest. That is my main reason for the purchase was to pull my boat. Does this make me a repub

Re: Pickups

Come on guys, he's pullin a 19ft bass boat. 1/2 ton anything will do just fine. Ford, chevy, dodge whatever. Get the largest v8 gas engine and a trailer package and have a ball. Don't know about you Texans but up here in Wisconsin you need 4wd. Versitile at the ramp and great off road and in the snow. The f250 will ride rough without a load and fine with a trailer. You could put a new engine in at 175K if you keep it that long and still come out ahead vs. a diesel. But if you want a diesel they will work just fine as well. Why would you want the king ranch version if you are just going to use it for fishing and hunting?

They will all perform wonderfully. You just are not pulling enough trailer to make a difference, and longevity doesn't seem to be a primary concern for you. FWIW chevy's seem to ride somewhat smoother than the fords.

Exactamente. He could pull it with a honkin' Ranger and I am pretty sure nobody would get killed  LT is all over this too. No way you pay back the diesel unless you run 50K a year, probably more.

Re: Pickups

I'd do some intense research on the new Ford Deisel... (the one they just came out with to compete with GM's peppier motor) The service tech here said they're not holding up. His comment varified by the number of F-2/350s that were in the shop that day. I asked why their cabs were removed to which he said that it was quicker to pull the engine that way. He didn't give specifics, just said that they were falling apart.

The older PowerStrokes are bulletproof however. But I agree with the folks above who think it's overkill. A V8 150 should be fine.

spots

Only dealer in this county is Ford, so Dems and Repubs both drive them. :D If that helps ;) :p

Yea but, yea but, if I don't drive my 7.3 to Mickey Dees, I can't hear them say to please turn my truck off so they can hear my order, or get to see the looks of that guy on the payphone when I pull up and park there.

Just not the same in a 5.7. Sorry.

Re: Pickups

think I am going with the F150 supercrew 2wd with the big gas engine and tow package. Darn these things are expensive but lots of incentive packages, apparently can not sell them with gas prices up. Good timing for me.

Re: Pickups

Dodge is about to announce 0% in the next week or so. Look for Ford to match it with low interest or additional rebates. Last month wasn't kind to either manufacturer with regards to SUV's and light pickup sales. Hold your horses for a week or two and you might realize a nice little windfall yourself. FWIW, never buy a vehicle from a dealer at the beginning of the month, they are typically not as hungry to cut a deal.

Re: Pickups

I might be a little late but.... If a F150 will do everything you ever plan on then go with it. If ya get a F250 deisel then you'll get addicted. I started out in half ton trucks, both Ford and Chevy. I really needed something a little bigger. F250 with 5.8 5 spd, 3.73 gears was next. Yep, she'll pull. Till....... I get the big tractor. I really would like to have a little more but moneys tight. Haggle a 1 ton bed and rearend and put it in. The 4.10 gears and shorter tires really woke the ol girl up. Now I'm jonesin for a powerstroke.

Its extremely busy here, selling Fords right now.
If only I could get my hands on some new F-550's.

All you really need is a F-150 4X4. 5.4 Triton with
a 5 speed Ford TorqShift ,tow pkg and your good
to more than 9000lbs maximum loaded trailer weight.
You will be glad you got a Ford.
