Good work. What a lovely sound. Let us know how she does on the water. Rick.

wilco.
I'm excited to see what kind of speed I get out of my little 14' tinny.

It's funny, I had forgotten how big my grandfather was on labeling his belongings, his name or initials are in no less than 4 locations either stenciled on, stuck on with one of those labeling things, or engraved in with a rotary tool.

I was also surprised by the neutral throttle limiter, my other small evinrude doesn't have that.

Sweet old motor - and she'll probably run for another 50+ years with proper maintenance.:)

I think so too, until they outlaw 2 strokes on every lake around here anyway.

Ran it for the first time on the water tonight.

Started a little hard, maybe 3-4 pulls, and idled really low for a little bit, then it was off and running just fine, maybe a few misfires. Throttle surged quite a bit for the first 15 minutes, I'm thinking bad gas as there was just a tiny amount in the bottom of the tank that was very old I couldn't get out, on the way back in ran great, idled down to trolling speed nice and smooth, got the high and low needles set to peak RPM and it seems good.

the down side, only 9-10 MPH out of my 14' tinny with a floor and my just shy of 300lb posterior. It just couldn't plane, I moved the battery and trolling motor to the nose but it was still bow high. it has an old michigan wheel (I'm told) bronze prop, I don't have a tach, but it might be too much pitch for this altitude? I don't know.

and an annoyance, does anyone know how the lock works on the tilt? The lever locking it down is on the back there by the clamps, but I tipped the motor UP to adjust the down angle and I couldn't find the lock to put it down? I ended up just removing the darn pivot bolt with my leatherman, almost scrapped the trip lakeside!

You know, I'm almost starting to like the old pressure tank better than the vacuum pumps on newer motors. Something about the simplicity of it.
